As many of you know I do a little bit of work for a local HE college and the Buzz words for this year are ‘embedding numeracy’ – much to the horror of many students and a fair number of staff as well. It’s EVERYWHERE!!
I’ve just heard this story on the Steve Wright show and have found a link to the full story if anyone would like to have a read. Apparently Bees are BEEING TAUGHT TO COUNT in order to obtain nectar!!! No wonder they are vacating their hives in large numbers to hopefully find pastures new – although I have witnessed quite a few just dropping dead on the walkways in Townley recently – which is perhaps understandable if they have taken on board that they may need to count to more than four in future in order to be fed!
Poor Bees!!

In the spirit of enjoyment I am starting a new fun project to find my name in many different formats. The first for today is my Pirate Name – ‘Sea Monkey Mary’ – HOW FUN IS THAT THEN?? BRILL – everyone giggles when I tell them – especially my Tuesday evening group of trainee teachers. This is before I was nearly lifted off my feet by what seemed like a very small kite. However, it needed two hands to control it and when the massive gusts came …. up I went as well ….. very very funny.
We can’t wait to try again. Need to develop my ‘hovering hawk’ move a little more !!

Hello all my friends 
Whow – well we’ve been so busy living life that we have had very little time to blog about it. Summer hols are finally here but unfortunately the summer weather has not been in our favour. Car boots have been cancelled, likewise with picnic trips to parks, boating trips and other outdoor activities. Arrhh well – not to worry – at least we live in the UKs Mill Shop Central Country. Boundary Mill last week (overdosed on chocolates), Townley Garden Centre and Coffee Shop Tuesday (bought a fab door mat with three cats on it), and the best day of all so far – THE COAST!!
YEAH – I just adore the seaside – first stop Freeport – nearly filled the boot with bargain buys in M&S and had a real nostalgic trip in a shop called Pasttimes – we bought ourselves a great phone – black, and really really dials – just like the one my grannie had. It even rings like hers did – brill!!!
A quick visit the the North Euston Hotel at lunchtime. We had our wedding reception there and stayed in the Bridal Suite (the one above the main entrance with the massive balcony). What lovely lovely memories – well over 25 years ago now – gosh how time moves on eh?
Then it was home for both of us to settle down with a delicious dinner and a good watch of Stargates.

If a pussycat could huff, puff, sigh and ‘tut’ then I think Xena would have won a medal for that last night. 
I keep prattling on and on about how difficult it is to get a good photo of her – so – last night we decided to give it a go.
We each had a camera to hand – waiting for the opportune moment and ‘Voila’ – we managed to get several. Unfortunately most of them seemed to be shots of her lying on the rug looking very ‘dead’ – not a good idea to post those – who knows what people might think!
AT LAST I managed to get two photos I could use – taken on the sofa at the end of the evening when she came to ask for her biscuit supper.
As you can see – the first shot she is NOT happy about the fact that a camera is pointing her way. However, after a quiet word of encouragement from me she faced the camera full on.
What do you think 
she is thinking?? I am reluctant to put into words what message I think she is trying to communicate.
