The Sun is Shining!

Posted under Happiness

How wonderful!

At last we can make the most of our lovley back yard. The sun is shining, the flowers are in full bloom, it’s blowing a warm wind and we think we’re in Lanzarote.  The yard has been painted, the gate is bright blue and new looking again and the whole place has a med feel to it.

Yesterday was our ‘day off’ and we really made the most of it.  Apricot pastries with our freshly brewed morning coffee, Salami and Cheese freshly baked baguettes for lunch with Spanish Olives and a delicious bottle of red wine.  Chinese snacks for the afternoon and a tasty supper.  Life is good.

Well – today it’s back to work and we have a few jobs to finish off before checking in with Simon Baker – the mentalist. OOOooooooooooooooooo

Visiting Mum & Other Family

Posted under Fun Stuff, Happiness, Travelling

Gosh – I’ve done it again!! Another month has gone by and I haven’t got around to doing any blogging.  It  seems that yet  again my life is so full and we are so busy that I just haven’t time to tell people about it (except on the personal emails of course) So … all my emaily mates will know all about the 80  teddy bears that now inhabit our front lounge awaiting to have their photographs taken.  They are all suitably attired according to professions and most have their bits and pieces (that is to say the Doctors have their bags and stethescopes, Robin Hood has his Quiver and Horn and of course the Juggler has his brightly coloured balls!!!) BIG GRINS

I’m hoping that someone will want to take them in so will be working on the advert this weekend.

I have had a journey up North to see my mum again.  As most of you know she hasn’t been well on and off but was OK when I was up there. I forgot my camera so I’m posting another piccie of us both taken in Anaheim Disneyland Los Angeles – ‘the Happiest Place on Earth’ – and it was for us. We loved it!! We’ve not changed much – I still have the same haircut and I suspect those blue pants are in the back of my wardrobe somewhere. Not really sure if they will fit – although I have lost nearly a stone in weight since christmas so they may just …..

Got to know some of Brent’s lovely folks as well whilst up at Mums.  Aunty Harriet’s son Roy and his wife Judith. A Super Lovely time was had (thanks R&J if you’re looking in) – yummy lunch – reminising about places visited in the USA – especially Arizona, Grand Canyon, Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon followed by a shopping trip.  I felt prompted to buy some postcards from ebay reminding me of those lovely happy travels in America.

So … That covers about 4 days of the last month – I think if I were to type about everything we would be looking at publishing the biggest blog ever …

Now I need to sign off …. YEP … you got it ….. things to do ………

I’d sy Chat Soon – but I probably won’t

A Cuppa & A Catch-Up …

Posted under Blogroll, Fun Stuff

cuppa and catch upWell hello everyone! I feel very guilty about my absence.  It’s simply ages since I’ve bothered to do any bloggin. The twittering idea didn’t work out – couldn’t be bothered if truth be told and all the incoming stuff was trying to sell me something basically – except the Dali Lama of course – now there’s a great guy with some food for thought.

Anyhow – I thought it was time to sit down at the PC with a lovely cuppa tea and give a quick round up of events for anyone looking in.

I’ve found some photos which I forgot to post from last summer – SUMMER!! I hear people cry – what’s that then??? Yes – the photos prove it – it was sunny and warm at some time lastsunny day summer. We had a trip to the caravan to visit Marie & Stan and went out for a lovely meal at the Queensway Harvester Pub Restaurant. It sunny day againmust have been sometime after my birthday (which as in May) because I’m using a fabulous hippy style bag that my mum gave me as a gift.

Christmas Break ……

xmas Then of course there was Christmas – tree, decorations, gifts, wine, food,

peeping stan

chocolates …. more wine – you can see Stan peeping into the room after a couple of bevvies looking very nosey …. eeeeeeeeeee … ello Stanley!!

Now of course it’s the end of February and no sign of the cold wet windy sleety weather letting up. I’m a bit cheesed off with it all to put it mildly – however – the inability to get out and do anything interesting means we’ve cleared a lot of stuff via eBay and can now see the floor in the alcove – yeahhhhhhhhhh.

So folks …. that was sort of a catch up … nothing too thrilling or shocking I’m afraid but thanks for tuning in.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Posted under Fun Stuff, Happiness

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.  As usual we have tried to get a photo of us both to post with the message – which has been a bit difficult this year for some reason (probably not had enough Cab Sav yet!

Anyroad – followingare our attempts – one is OK but lacking the background Christmas Tree that was so lovelingly put up.  Another is where it took so long for the flash batteries to recharge Brent fell asleep (maybe THAT WAS too much Cab Sav???)

Finally Brent took one just of me grinning like a mad woman which you can see here (definately too much Cab Sav) – but at least we’ve got the lovely tree in the photo AND the fabulous christmas card that Brent sent me.  ARrrhhhhh how romantic – reminds me of Strictly Come Dancing and all those absolutely fabulous frocks darlings!!!

Well … back to topic … Thanks to ALL for lovely cards received in the ‘real world’ and very very much appreciated.  WE LOVE CHRISTMAS!

See you soon

30 Christmas Holidays …. How brill is that!

Posted under Happiness

Gosh – it’s hard to believe it but Brent and I have had 30 Christmas holidays together this year!

Whoweee – and as soppy as it sounds we remember and cherish every one.  It’s a really special time for us – I’m sure we slip into some kind of timewarp – Jimjams, choccies, cups of tea and of course Scooby Doo back to back. EEeeeeeeeeeeee

This week we will put the tree up, write cards, buy and wrap presents and write the Festive shopping list.  A fully stocked wine rack,  full freezer and loads of plans … to do …. absolutely NOTHING!

How lucky we have been – sorry for the sentiment but after all IT IS CHRISTMAS

Seasons greetings – love n stuff

Derek Aston will be greatly missed …

Posted under Blogroll, Spirituality

Derek… I write this with tears rolling down my face as I share with you all the very sad news that Derek Aston – a long time and much loved friend has passed away. The obit says: On Saturday, October 17, 2009, peacefully at his home in Thornton, Derek aged 77 years. The beloved husband of Doreen and loving father of Paul. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

Derek was in my life nearly everyday when I was a child / teenager - since I was 2 years old and there whilst I was growing up. He was always gentle, kind and considerate.  He used to pick me and Paul up from school with a big smile on his face and out of the blue take us on wonderful ‘trips’ to the Lakes, Fleetwood, the beach, Stanley Park and the Tower.

One of my favourite memories of us going conkering in Singleton woods and coming home with pockets bulging.  Even if the trip was just to come home from school he made it an adventure somehow – although there was that time we ran over a chicken on Poolfoot Lane …. but I’ll save that tale for another time.derek and doreen

It was only a couple of days before he passed that we were chatting on the internet – as was our habit.  Derek filled our lives with fun, love and laughter. His jokes, loving messages, news updates and photos rolled in nearly everyday.  Gosh – what a gap his passing has left in this household.  We all thank God for him.

I would like to share with you the last photos he sent to me after his trip to Bath (the Cranford TV Set) and one taken in the summer of him and Doreen.  I’m sure no one will mind.  You will also find him in a previous posting on this link.

Thanks Derek – we all loved you to bits

xxxxx

PS Please feel free to send in your lovely memories of Derek and I will publish them as soon as I can. Thanks xx
